About Susannah

I studied classical drawing and painting in an atelier in Florence for over two years. My time at Studio Cecil Graves was extremely exacting, working with the sight size technique used by the old masters, and learning about tone before colour.

Evening

Silver scales of fish shimmer, pooling discs of sun,
Flick and glint the wind in courteous obeisance to lemon light.
Diamond sea necklaces lean in to stroke the black rock dusk,
And silhouette, as light draws down,
The darkening wings beat back to roost,
And batter cry against the waves of ending day,
Cool in cracks and shadows.
